How to Handle Hey Fever

Hay fever can really spoil your day and your week. It can run the body down and get in the way of things that are important, but what really is hay fever and what can you do to handle it? In this article you will find a few ideas that you can use to deal with the hav fever irritation…

What is hay fever?

Hay fever, also called allergic rhinitis, is the cause of symptoms like runny noses, itchy eyes, congestion, sneezing and sinus pressure. Unlike colds and flues, hay fever isn’t caused by a virus.

If you have asthma, you might also have a tight feeling in your chest, be short of breath with a wheeze and cough.

Hay fever can normally last for weeks or months, unlike a cold, which usually goes away after 1 to 2 weeks.

What is the cure for hay fever?

There is no cure or prevention for hay fever but you can do things to ease the symptoms like staying in doors, showering and changing your clothes, be in a clean environment, use products like Elder flower Eye Gel under your eyes and under your nose to trap pollen as well as keeping windows and doors closed as much as you can.

Try not to do things like cutting the grass, spending lots of time around green and grassy areas outside, keeping fresh flowers around you and where possible not letting pets in the house because they can bring pollen indoors with them.
